Day Three

Day three is finally done!
Now only [ONE] more day to gooooo.
I must admit, this diet has made me appreciate the taste of plain foods!
We aren't allowed to add salt or sugars to our meals and can't cook with oils. Now that may seem like no biggy, but try and see if YOU can eat boiled eggs, hamburger, chicken breast, or steak without even a pinch of salt or grapefruit without a pinch of sugar!?

EXACTLY.

(For those of you who do that already, ORiLLY Hi-5 yourself!:)
I can honestly say I now appreciate the taste of straight up plain meats.
I never realized how BIG of a factor salt and sugar was in my food.
Fourth and FINAL day will be a breeze. Then come the results.
hmm. we shall seeeeeeeeee <3

Day Two

Day TWO on the diet. Can I just say that last night, I went to sleep HUNGRY! lol But isn't that how dieting works? You eat less than what you normally eat. So NO, I'm not starving myself. I'm just not used to [not] eating something sweet after dinner or snacking through out the day. ugh. I'm also not used to drinking so much water! I swear, it feels like I'm pregnant again (knock on wood) having to pee all the dang time! haha. On the bright side, I weighed myself this morning and am was 5 lbs lighter!? I know, I know, it's just the water weight...but still, its exactly the kind of motivation I needed to continue through today! Oh and btw, this diet is designed for people to potentially lose up to 18 lbs in 4 days. W/O exercise. So we will see how far it gets me. I'm still breastfeeding pretty exclusively and would NOT have started this if I didn't think it was healthy. I still eat 3 meals a day. They're just smaller portions and Healthier options :)

Day One

Starting a strict Four-day diet with my friend Camille today.
Praying for Discipline to Endure to the END.
Hoping for the best results.
Wish me luck!

SO Humbled

So, one of my cousins is on his Mission in the Philippines. Meet, Elder Lelann Latu! If you don't know him, you might know his sister, Tania. And if you don't know her, then you're missing out because they both have been great examples to me throughout my life!!

I believe Lelann has been in the Philippines for a couple weeks now? Maybe almost a month? I'm not sure of exact timing but he's emailed me twice since he's been there. Both times he's emailed me, his messages made me tear up because they were both SO Humbling for me.

His First email said:
"Kelcy! I'm out in the Philippines now! It's Crazy! I live in the most ghettoest place on the mission! haha JK. My first day here it flooded, so I had to carry my luggage over my head across the river. I get my water from a well and I shower in a bucket. I also wash my clothes by hand. Anyway, how are you guys doing? Love you guys. The Church is True!
Mahal Ko Kayo"

How GRATEFUL I am to be living in a nice spacious apartment, with running water I can get from a sink, a big shower I can jump into whenever, and machines that wash my clothes for me?! It's amazing how we quickly forget all the little things in life and how easily we take them for granted! This reminds me of a saying my dad used to tell me, "When you think you have it bad, someone else has it Ten times worse." He'd usually tell me this when I'd grumble about things or when I didn't get my way or whatever the reason was, but every time he did, I stopped complaining and humbled myself VERY quickly because that saying is SO true!

Lelann's Second email said:
"Thanks for the support! The people here are very humble but so full of life! It really makes me appreciate the little things. In America, the cheap food is Spam. Well, here in the Philippines, Spam is like rich people food! People save up all there money to buy it for Christmas Dinner! Anyways, I love it here. Living in the middle of nowhere really gives me time to think about life and read. It's amazing. The Gospel is amazing. I love you guys and can't wait to see you guys again someday. 21 months pa! -Elder Latu"

I'm SO Proud of him and all the rest of the Missionaries out in the mission field sacrificing their time and lives to serve the Lord.

Carleton's

Yesterday we met up with Lincoln's dad and his family and went over to Carleton's Pumpkin Patch! Well, we met at IHOP for breakfast first, then we headed over to the Pumpkin Patch. The weather was beautiful but the air was cold. We first took Rush to look at the Farm Animals that they had. (It was only a few animals but it was still cute) Then we waited in line for the Hayride to take us over to the Patch.

Once we got to the patch, Linc, his little brother Stefyn, and Stefyn's brother Kahe headed straight to the Corn Maze! While Me, my Father-in-Law, his wife, and Rush started to look for Pumpkins. I was mainly just playing photographer and taking pictures of everything that captured my attention while we were waiting for the boys to come back from the maze. (For those of you who know me, wouldn't be surprised! haha)

About 15 minutes later, the boys came out of the maze. They said they got lost and ended up going in circles so they called it quits. lol. So we began looking for our pumpkins.

Overall, it was a really fun day! It was [our] Family's first time to a Pumpkin Patch. Yes, it wasn't just Rush's first time; me and Linc had never been to one before too! lol. So it was a cool family experience and we plan on going next year as well as the years to follow :)

Here's a sum of what it looked like:

T G I F

Thank Goodness It's Friday!

This morning I woke up to Beautiful Sun rays shining through the blinds in our room, as well as Rush talking up a storm to her toes. haha. I just LOVE how she's able to keep herself occupied! Well, up until a certain point, then she's over it and starts to fuss.

I'm SO Thankful for the opportunity that I have to be a Stay-At-Home Mommy and take care of Rush! Also, for MY Wonderful Husband who works so hard to provide for our Family!! I am truly Blessed!

But, Thank Goodness It's Friday! Today was the [FIRST] Friday Linc had to work since April. Since April, they were working 4-10 hour days Mon-Thurs; giving them Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays OFF! But now that the Sun goes down faster, they switched back to 5-8's. It was so nice while it lasted. Now we have to adjust to shorter weekends with him. But, shorter weekends are better than NO weekends with him. :)

Princess & the Peas

Today I decided to introduce Rush to Peas! This would be her second 'green' veggie to try. (The First was Green Beans and they were a Negative!) In my mind, I didn't think she'd like them because of how she reacted to the Green Beans. BUT, to my surprise [again], she LOVED it! Same reaction as the carrots, trying to eat the spoon and all! ha. ha.

Peas were a Success!!!

Her NEW Favorite thing to do......Stick Tongue!!

She dinner'd her Peas!! haha

She cried when there was no more!! lol

Let the cold begin!

So today, the weather was bittersweet. The rain was beautiful, but the gray skies were just straight up depressing. Along with the weather, came the colder than usual temperature! It started to hit me that Winter is coming very soon. Yay but Nay! Yay because Winter = the Holidays (and this will be our F1RST Holiday Season with Rush)!

But, Nay because Winter = Super COLD temps (that make you wish you were a bear and could just Hibernate ALL Winter long)!! Bahahaaa. Or maybe, that's just ME!? Anyways, today we had to go pick up some things from the store and with the weather being beautifully ugly, and Rush being a little sick; we decided to NOT take any chances! Therefore, we turned Rush into...

Fluffy Rushy!!!!
(I mean, Rush is already naturally fluffy but this just made it 10x more cute!:)

Recipe for Righteousness

Tonight for FHE we made Chocolate Chip Cookies! The lesson was called "Recipe for Righteousness" and I found it on LDSSplash.com. For each ingredient, there was a righteous trait as well as a scripture about that trait.

For example:
Flour = RESPECT (1 Peter 2:17)
Baking Soda = TRUST (D&C 11:12)
Salt = HONESTY (Alma 27:27)
Butter = FAITH (Alma 15:10)
Sugar = LOYALTY (Joshua 24:15)
Brown Sugar = MORALS (Proverbs 11:3)
Vanilla = DEPENDABILITY (Mosiah 7:19)
Eggs = RESPONSIBILITY (Jacob 1:19)
Chocolate Chips = LOVE (Moroni 7:47)

The moral of this lesson was that the cookies wouldn't taste the same if one of these ingredients were missing. Same as how you can't be Righteous by being Disrespectful, Dishonest, or Hateful, etc.!

D&C 59:23

The Result was Heavenly : )

Eternal Perspective

Yesterday and today, we were lucky to be able to hear such wonderful words from the leaders of our church. Even though we had to watch it on my laptop because our cable company requires you to pay extra for the BYU channel, the spirit was still present.

It's amazing how we can watch General Conference year after year, and there is always talks and messages that pertain to us! I just love that. Overall, it seemed like the messages were words that we needed to hear. Words of encouragement to keep striving for Eternity.

Thanks to the Atonement and with the help of our Bishop, we're on the right path to doing so. So hopefully by next summer, we will be able to come home and be sealed in the Laie, Hawaii Temple. I can't imagine a better place to be sealed to MY family <3

Rush meets Carrots!

At Rush's 4 month appointment this past Wednesday, her Doctor gave us the OK to start introducing Rush to baby food if we wanted. We excitedly headed to Wal-Mart today to pick some up. We picked up peas, carrots, green beans, sweet potatoes, bananas, peaches, and prunes! Oh, I almost forgot, we picked up rice too! (lol) Gotta have the rice....HAWAIIAN! hahahaa Now Rush can eat rice too! Well, when mixed with breast milk or formula that is...but still!! She's getting closer and closer to eating Big people food! :)

We decided to start Rush off with veggies first! (Since, both my mom and Rush's doctor said that once babies taste the sweetness of fruits, they usually won't like the taste of vegetables.) With that said, Rush was introduced to Mr. Carrots today!!! And to mine and Linc's surprise, she LOVED it! Now we just hope she'll feel the same way about the rest of her vegetables...we'll see. Here are some pictures of Rush's FIRST baby food experience. Yay!

Daddy did the feeding...

Carrots, yuuum!

mm mm mmmm

I like it...SEE :)

All done!

Happily getting cleaned up.

That was good, i'm nice and full now.

The End
